Mind you, it's very rare that I'd need that amount of tremolo! Back to top Allthreads Re: NotePerformer 1.3.0 Update Posted by Arne @ NotePerformer - 09 Apr 11:41AM Hide picture I can confirm it stutters a bit here as well. But under the extreme circumstances of this score I would have to categorize this as normal behavior, as this is the worst offending score of all time from the eyes of NotePerformer. :)All those tremolo voices in the strings take a lot of CPU, but what brings it over the top is the pipe organ! There are eight written notes on the organ using the full stops program. And the the full stops program in turn triggers eight different "pipes" in NotePerformer for each written note.So in all there are 64 virtual pipes sounding at the same time, each simulated separately, having its own atmospheric pitch fluctuations, envelopes, etc. Which is quite extreme to begin with, and this is combined with a large scale orchestra playing playing tremolo in block chords. Knowing the kind of strain this score and NotePerformer puts on your computer in terms of calculations, I almost felt I had to duck when pressing play!Turn off the pipe organ and the score plays back perfectly for me at least. It would of course be an option to pre-render a full stops organ patch in NotePerformer at the expense of playback quality and some RAM memory. But it was designed this way to keep the door open to the possibility of creating your own registrations with the pipe organ in the future. Plus I like "living" instruments where repeated notes don't sound exactly the same. -- Arne Wallanderwww.NotePerformer.com Back to top Allthreads Re: NotePerformer 1.3.0 Update Posted by Arne @ NotePerformer - 09 Apr 02:01PM (edited 09 Apr 02:03PM) Hide picture ..and on a separate topic to my previous post, while I'm at it I'd like to throw in some tips on how to deal with a score like this one with NotePerformer, since Stephen graciously made this .sib file publicly available for download in this thread. 1. You may notice that the snare drum level changes from bar to bar. This is due to "Espressivo" in Sibelius. Set that to "Meccanico", in the Performance window, and that's taken care of. 2. Double-click all volume sliders in the mixer, to reset all volumes. That's usually a very good starting point, and if you then want to move an instrument further back in the room you can either lower the volume or increase the reverb on that instrument (using the reverb slider for that staff in the mixer). 3. The "zu 2", or "a 2" doesn't do anything in Sibelius as for now, so if you want all four trumpets playing in unison at the beginning, filter out all single notes on the trumpet staves (I use filter "Top note or single notes", and then "2nd note or single notes", that gives only single notes and no chords) and press "1" on your keyboard to double those notes. 4. From the mixer, locate the organ staves. For the bass staff, change instrument manually to "Pedal - Octave 8'" under NotePerformer->Keyboard->Organ. For the treble staff you can choose to change to "Great - Principal 8'" if you want to save some CPU at the end of the score. 5. In this particular score, Strauss calls for a "Grosse Trommel" = big drum. I suspect at some point, the bass drum became a snare drum with this .sib file, so triple-click the snare staff and change it to a bass drum staff instead. After these steps, Stephen's attached score should sound something like this: (Sibelius%20Forum%20-%20NotePerformer%201.3.0).mp3(you may need to copy-and-paste-the-link)I hope that's helpful. :) -- Arne Wallanderwww.NotePerformer.com Back to top Allthreads Re: NotePerformer 1.3.0 Update Posted by Stephen Wrigley - 09 Apr 05:33PM Hide picture Fantastic, Arne, thanks for that. As it happens, I just dug that file out to test as it was at the top of the list in the folder, it's not something I need to sound correct (or, in fact, at all), but it's thrown up some useful pointers from your good self; and indeed, I'm proud to be the source of "the worst offending score of all time from the eyes of NotePerformer" award! It's great that it recognises certain percussion instruments straight away, such as sleigh bells, which SoundsEssential seemed to have difficulty with (though it didn't seem to recognise 'without snares' on a side-drum part!) The other instruments are variable in sound quality, but one thing that surprised me is the disjointedness of melodic lines in most instruments, but particularly woodwind. I could only overcome this by adding the word 'legato' into each part. Is there any way of getting legato as the default style in playback? I think i know your reasons but every time there is an update it leads to really big downloads I have a reasonably fast connection but I wonder if it might annoy some people, with slower connections. All installers are unique, for each user. In many regards, watermarking is super-convenient and user-friendly, but not when it comes to downloading updates unfortunately. I'd like to add though that if anyone is having problems downloading our software, there's a beta script on the server which allows using download managers & resuming downloads. It's still in beta, but you can use that one by replacing the "DownloadFile.php" against "DownloadFileResume.php" in your personal download links. anyone experiencing problems and who need help with that, please send a support email from the NotePerformer website! -- Arne Wallanderwww.NotePerformer.com Back to top Allthreads Re: NotePerformer 1.3.0 Update Posted by Patrick O'Keefe - 15 Jul 06:59PM Hide picture > I'm afraid there's no way to do incremental updates when you use software watermarking instead of copy protection. And I assume that the more people that use it, the sooner it will move from beta to production. So use it! :-)But I also must say that for those of us with slow internet connections, a resumable download doesn't eliminate the problem of the download eating limited bandwidth for a long time. I reckon Note Performer to be almost comparable to EWQL by now, (I didn`t need to adjust any settings for the Strauss playback). I will advise to be very careful when looking for a new music computer. I had a montrous experience with going to a company I didn`t know, but had a wonderful web site!!!. It took them 6 months to build, with constant calls to ask what was happening. I`m all fixed up now, but I was given a poor DVD drive and had to purchase another. I was given an illegal copy of Windows 7 after initially asking for 7 AND the disc. My disc was only sent a month after the main delivery. My own technician is a Windows agent and he fixed everything for me at the going rate. My technician could have taken me to `task`, and I could/should have taken legal means to bring my builder to `task` to recover my addition spending, but I just didn`t have any more energy left (at my age) to go down another possible 6 months of stress. I`m now happy with what I`ve got. -- Back to top Allthreads Re: NotePerformer 1.3.0 Update Posted by TylerE - 19 Jan 01:28AM Hide picture I wonder when the next update will.
